She started earning at the age of 18 and hence financed all her desires on her own. From being a waiter to walking the ramp with elegance, she has done it all. The IT girl of Bollywood at present tells us how she made her foray into Bollywood in spite of being a star kid. You might like speaking and talking to her but when we spoke to her, our liking changed into love almost immediately. And we bet the same for you as well.

Fashion, glamour, glitz, hard work, ability and expressions: A Concoction of which of the following flavours do you see in a potential actress?

Well, number one is definitely going to be hard work! Frankly speaking, it has taken a lot of hard work for me, at least, to be here in a lot of ways. I started at 90 kilograms and it has taken a lot of hard work for me to reach wherever I am today. I have auditioned for all the roles that I have portrayed on screen. In fact, I had multiple auditions for ‘Sawaariya’ and similarly for ‘Delhi 6’ to get the roles. So, that in its self is a very difficult process. I have auditioned for every film except ‘I hate Luv Storys’. The hours that we actually put in to make the film ready for the audience is in itself a proof of the hard work that we put into it. Fashion, I think is very important, in terms of how you carry yourself and how you express yourself. I feel Fashion is a sense of expression because you are expressing yourself to your clothes! Being expressive in terms of who you are and showing your individuality by creating a personality is very relevant, especially if you become iconic! When you are someone who people look upto, you need to have your own personality. You cannot be like everybody else. Then it is expression: you need to be very expressive and talented to be a part of this industry. It does not matter whose daughter you are or how beautiful you are, it is the measure of how much talent you have and how much hard working you are that is going to matter eventually!

Very few people know that though you are a star kid, you did not have an easy way into the industry. Share some moments from life how it used to be then!

I was an assistant director for Sanjay (Leela Bhansali) in the beginning when he told me that he was making a film called ‘Saawariiya’ and he would like me to act in the movie! But for acting in it, I need to audition for the movie. That’s what he told me. All these girls had auditioned for the same role. There was Shivani Kapoor who used to be a model, Shraddha Kapoor (Shakti Kapoor’s daughter) auditioned for it. A lot of girls auditioned for it and I was one of them! Eventually, he selected me to play Sakina in his film. It is a process, you have to struggle a lot, you have to act, you have to get and click some good pictures! Fortunately, I take very good pictures. So that has always helped me in my auditions. I have always been auditioned for my photograph. There used to be people who would check my photographs and would ask me to come for the auditions. When I did ‘Delhi-6’, he probably auditioned all the girls in the entire industry. But I had just one meeting with him and he decided to take me in the film. So you have to struggle, you have to find out what films people are making and get rejected very often. You go to big banners like ‘Yashraj’ and ‘Dharma’ for work. They take your audition and either they like you or they don’t like you, without even caring who your father is or who your mother is! Film making is a business and they put money in you. You need to be successful and talented to shoulder that responsibility. I think it matters who your dad is because people treat you differently but it doesn’t matter when it comes to getting work under any banner!

You were launched with Sanjay Bhansali’s ‘Saawariya’ which might not have worked well at the box office but it did earn you instant recognition. How was your feeling then and now when you look back at it?

What happens with my films is that the public starts identifying so much with the characters that I play which assures that I have done my job convincing. It acts like a compliment for me. I put through who I actually am! After ‘Saawariya’ people thought I must have been the soft, shy, Indian girl and after Delhi-6 they felt I was very spunky and very pretty, again very Indian! With I Hate Luv Storys, I was the clichéd romanticheroine and after ‘Aisha’ I was the spoilt rich brat! With each and every film, people start identifying with me and my character. I like the fact that even if the audience doesn’t remember my films, they do remember Sakina, Bittu, Aisha or Simran. And hopefully, after Players, they will also remember Naina!

‘Saawariya’ opened so many crossroads for you. Films followed, you garnered applauses and you got labeled as a fashionista. But does Sonam still crave for a solo hit?

Well, I think I have got them with ‘I Hate Luv Storys’ and ‘Aisha’. Aisha was completely like my own film and it did have a 15 crore weekend at the box office! For a solo female film, that is quite a high number! It was also a first of its kind. After that, ‘No One killed Jessica’ and ‘The Dirty Picture’ came! It’s just got better from there. But then, it was just a mode of telling what the future of the industry is going to be. So for me, these two movies were really turning points in terms of business. Also, none of my films have opened small ever! In fact every film of mine has always opened big. Unfortunately, a lot of my big films have not lived up to my expectations but I have never ever been critically panned by anybody when my performance is concerned. For me, that is the most important thing. At least people like the way I act. Whichever of my films does do well, it is just like a cherry on the top!

Even then when a list of industry’s top actresses is made, somehow people miss out on you. Did you ever get bogged down by this?

I must admit that I do think that I am among the top 5 actresses. When people think about which actress to cast and there are 5 choices, I am definitely one of them. So I do not agree with you on that. I have always worked with the biggest film makers. I will continue working with the biggest filmmakers next year as well. So I have never ever felt that honestly. If I worked with a Sanjay Bhansali, Rakesh Mehra, Karan Johar, now with Abbas-Mustan, then Rajkumar Santoshi and Mani Ratnam, I fell privileged to be having this opportunity. When I came out, I sort of put myself in a bracket because of the choices I made. I never did anything that was not of quality.

With ‘Players’ we got to see a newer avatar of the lovely Sonam we knew. You have ventured into the action arena with this film. How was the entire experience?

I was expecting the film to do well and it did not live upto my expectations. It was a complete masala film, a very commercial movie and it is a lot of fun! You don’t need to go there thinking I am going to watch this deep dark film which will take me on a jouney! It will definitely take you on a journey but that would be a roller coaster ride. It is a fun, fun film! You just go there and get entertained!

You are now working with Rakesh Mehra again for ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’. You call him your most favourite director. Are you excited to work with him?

Yes I’m very excited to work with Rakesh Mehra again. He is one of my favourite directors and I worked with him in my 2nd film, which has been one of my closest films.

You are one of the most straight forward and frank celebrity in the industry. You have always called “a spade a spade”. Do you think your unabashed staright-forwardedness is what makes some people take you negatively?

I don’t thrive on any kind of negativity. I think people appreciate me because I’m straight forward and don’t find me diplomatic or fake!

 Dad Anil Kapoor has put his steps forward for Hollywood. With Hollywood brand endorsements already in your kitty, are you also planning to do a Hollywood movie given a chance?

Yes why not? If the script is good and it’s a character driven role, I would be more than happy to jump at the offer! (Smiles)

When can we see you and your dad together on screen?

Hopefully soon, considering we have already done a TV commercial together and it was really appreciated. We would definitely be seen together in sometime from now, I wish!

Rana Daggubati and Trisha call it quits, Bispasha wins the game

Hyderabad: The reports and rumor mill have it that Rana Daggubati and Trisha have called it quits after spending long time together. This news must seem strange to all and sundry since we have been hearing and reading a lot about Rana and Bipasha Basu’s love affair. And all at once this news came up that he broke up with regional actress Trisha.

The reports say that both Rana and Trisha have been good pals for last 10 years and they have been lovers since quite long time. The sources and the insiders tell that the reason behind the break up is mainly Bipasha Basu and Daggubati’s spending much time in Mumbai. The sources also reveal that the two also had really ugly showdown few days back.

The closeness between the two – Daggubati and Trisha happened soon after he broke the relationship with girlfriend Shriya Saran. The romance was quite in the air but it could not graduate to the next level due to the sultry Bollywood babe Bispasha’s emergence. Rana has been quite involved with Basu and he is not able to take time out to spend in Hyderabad as he is much busy with his Hindi film commitments in Mumbai.

This all irked Trisha a lot that she finally made up the mind. Both Rana and Trsiha had come into notice when he preferred spending New Year with Trisha in Goa ignoring Bipahsa Basu who was also there at the exotic place. But finally the seductress Basu took the lead and won the man from Trsiha.

Well, apparently both Bispasha and Rana deny the reports of the love affair but the truth is what everybody knows. Whenever Rana Daggubati’s name is taken before her, the sparkles ooze out from her face. The dating between the two has been going on and soon they both will make it confirmed as Trisha is out of the scene now.

Rowdy Rathore Box Office Collections – Reports and Earnings

And yes you now get to see Akhshay Kumar in a completely new avatar. Some say it is somewhat close to Akshaya’s Khiladi look however we find his act in Rowdy Rathore to be plane simple raw. The raw look seems bound to leave quite an impact and with the IPL season over and no other good movie in sight Rowdy Rathore is sure to be a bang on hit.

The movie has already received an amazing start in most parts of the countries. Housefull multiplexes and single screen theaters present the whole story. It seems the movie is doing better business in single screen theaters than in multiplexes. Single screen theaters in UP and Delhi say a 85% plus occupancy rate on day 1. The entire northern Indian region sees a similar fate. Down south and Maharashtra the movie is going a bit slow with an average of 65% occupancy rate. However, the figures are only expected to improvise by the weekend.

• Vivek Oberoi takes a dig at mighty Salman Khan, yet again. Yes you heard us right the actor takes a potshot at the senior actor again. When asked which film was bigger between Ek The Tiger and Sher he replied that Sher is considered to be larger than tiger usually. The actor who used to be too outspoken had apparently learnt his lesson and apologized to him. It seems that he has forgotten the lesson and is back to his self destructive ways.
• All the known and the relatively unknown celebrities from Bollywood had attended Karan Johar’s birthday bash. The only celebrity who gave this much talked about birthday party a miss was John Abraham. The star failed to show up at his Dostana producer’s party. Two reasons are being considered by the media. Maybe he did not want to run into his ex-girlfriend Bipasha Basu. Otherwise he did not want the limelight to be on his fiancée Priya.
• Arjun Kapoor is all set to shoot for his next film. Arjun will reportedly have a double role in the film which will be produced by Yash Raj Chopra. The actor says that the double role is not a risk for an inexperienced actor like him. Instead he is considering it as a challenge to prove that he can handle two roles at a time. Arjun considers Salman Khan’s double role in Judwaa one of the best among the double roles played by all actors.
• Shahrukh Khan thinks that his past failures have taught him to be humble. He said that the period of failure he experienced as the Kolkata Knight Riders has changed him. He had learnt that both success and failure are a part of life. He said that the team had been working very hard for the last three to four years and the results was the proof of it.
• Amitabh Bachchan says that he is not a salesman but an actor. The veteran actor who endorses numerous brands and products says that talent is not present in him. He says the current trade of going to any extent to promote one’s film amuses him. He does not think spending crores in promoting the film makes the film a hit. Amitabh says that even Rajnikanth agreed to him.
• Sanjay Leela Bansali says that Guzaarish was the happiest film he has ever made. For him the criticism he received for Saawariya was more heartbreaking. He says that he could have never moved on if he had not gone to direct the opera in France. He says that he will be composing again for his next film Ram Leela. He calls Kareena a powerhouse of talent and  Ranveer a spontaneous actor.
• Sonam Kapoor calls her biggest rival Katrina Kaif shameless. The outspoken actress said that she would like to give Katrina a bouquet of flowers. The reason being that she has a certain kind of shamelessness to do the films that she has been doing. She goes on to call herself a trendsetter. She says that when it comes to fashion she is the only person to be talked about.
• Rumours are that King Khan will be performing at this year’s IIFA awards. He had performed in Canada at last year’s IIFA too. This time he will be enthralling his fans in Singapore by performing to songs from Ra-one and Don2. Word is that Hrithik Roshan will be performing at the same event. The actor who is a great dancer will be performing on tracks from Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. The entire event will be choreographed bythe very talented Prabhu Deva.
• Vidya Balan received the this year’s Prabha Khaitan Puraskar. The National Award winner received this award from the Governor of west Bengal, M.K.Narayanan  in Kolkata.  Prabha Khaitan Puraskar is warded to women who have excelled in different fields. The actress said that she was extremely honoured to receive this award. Shabana Azmi had received this award back in 1996.
• The shooting of cocktail has turned a deserted beach in Cape Town into a party spot. The cast shot the song Tumi Ho Bandhu on the beach which has become a rage soon after its release. Dinesh Vijan, the co producer had called the best DJ in town to play on the beach. Within a few hours people started gathering and soon the place looked like a real party. Now that the cast has left Cape Town the beach has become one of the most happening party spots of Cape Town.
• Dipannita Sharma treats her acting career as a means of getting creative satisfaction. The actress made her debut opposite Milind Soman in 16 December. She went on to do Jodi Breakers and Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl. She has not signed a new film yet and promises to announce the signing of her next film in public. But she had to follow the strict rules of Gauri Khan. Gauri placed the condition that she (Priyanka) and Shah Rukh will socialize as normally guests do at parties and they will maintain a certain distance (as per reports). Additionally, Gauri has also strictly ordered to Shah Rukh Khan not to do any films with her in future (as per reports).

Rowdy Rathore (2012) Movie Review – Details

Rowdy Rathore expected to hit Theaters on the 1st of June 2012

Rowdy Rathore, which marks the return of Akshay Kumar in the action field, is a remake of the Telugu movie Vikramarkudu. The film went on the floors on 10^th august 2011. The movie has been promoted in a unique manner, wherein posters of lead actors were painted by street painters. The street painters took 4 hours to carve these posters out, while Akshay and Sonakshi were made to stand and pose for the posters. All the 4 posters designed by the painters, have been released as the film’s first look posters. Prabhudeva has directed this action caper after his previous action blockbuster Wanted.

Sources have credited Sanjay Leela Bhansali with this idea, as the renowned director intends to bring back the creative idea of poster painting back to bollywood. The posters have generated a huge response from the audience for its innovative approach already.

The poster also shows Akshay sporting a moustache. Akshay has sported a moustache look for films such as Sabse Bada Khiladi, Sangharsh and Chandni Chowk to China.

The plot of the movie revolves around a thief played by Akshay Kumar, who gets wrongly judged by a girl as her father. The thief then gets to know that he resembles the girl’s father, IPS officer Rathore who has been killed. The rest of the story is based on how the thief extracts revenge on those responsible for IPS officer Rathore’s death. Akshay Kumar is seen a double role in the movie.

The film was in the news recently, when it was reported that Akshay Kumar was almost wounded by a bullet while shooting. The amount of gunpowder used in the bullets was slightly higher than the normal level and it apparently could have rsulted in a very serious injury for Akshay. Akshay managed to escape with no harm done incidently, but the action director Mahindre Verma apologized to Akshay profoundly for the incident.

Rowdy Rathore is expected to hit the theatres on 15^th June 2012. The film has already gained a lot of publicity thanks to a lot of advertisement in the media and on social networking sites. Lets hope that this return to action genre proves to be a successful one for Akshay Kumar.
