Bollywood Today – 2nd June 2012

We are here with today’s Bollywood report fresh out of the oven. Just go through the news report to know about the incidents that took place in Bollywood today.

• The ‘Junglee Billi’  has actually adopted a wild cat in reality. Yes you read that right, Priyanka Chopra has adopted a lioness. The fifteen year old lioness is called Sundari and lives in Birsa Zoological Park in Ranchi. Priyanka will be responsible for the lioness for only one year. She had adopted a tigress named Durga earlier this year.
• The shooting of Karan Johar and Sajid Nadiawala’s much delayed project 2 States will finally begin next year. At first Sajid had decided to rope in Shahrukh Khan for the film. When that failed Karan became a co-producer and wanted to sign Ranbir Kapoor. Even that did not work out and the film became an uncertainty. Finally Imran Khan has decided to do the film much to the producers’ relief. The film is about the love story of a Punjabi boy and a South Indian girl which finally culminates in marriage.
• King Khan will be giving this year’s IIFA Awards a miss much to the disappointment of his fans. He will be busy shooting for Yash Chopra’s film at that time. The actor had attended last year’s ceremony but this year he will be in London with his family. He will be joined by Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma in London. The film is a quintessential love story which will be directed by Yash Chopra.
• A group of twenty one medical organisations including the Indian Medical Association has asked Aamir Khan to apologise. According to them the actor had insulted the profession in his tv show Satyamev Jayate. They have warned that in case their demand is ignored they would ask people to boycott the actor’s movies and shows. The episode was based on the insensitive malpractices in medical treatment.
• After Shimit Amin another Ram Gopal Verma protege will be directing a film for the Yash Raj Productions. Atul Sabharwal will be directing Aurangzeb for the production company which will star Arjun Kapoor. He had earlier written the script for Ram Gopal Verma’s My Wife’s Murder. He went on to direct a television series for the Yash Raj Productions next. Aditya Chopra spotted him there and asked him to write a screenplay. The film will see Arjun Kapoor in a double role for the first time.
• Venerable actor Naseeruddin Shah was so impressed with the script of his next film that he reduced his fees to a great extent. The film which is called Charlie Ke Chakkar Mein has been directed by debutant Manish Srivastav. Naseer will be playing the protagonist for a nominal fee. The film will also star a number of theater actors along with Naseer. The film is in it’s post production stage and will release next year.
• Actress Sonashi Sinha celebrates her twenty fifth birthday today. The actress is still enjoying the amazing response that her latest outing, Rowdy Rathode got. The actress started her acting career opposite Salman Khan in the blockbuster Dabanng. She has a long list of films awaiting release including Son Of Sardar, Lootera and Dabanng 2.
• Karan Johar has signed Emraan Hashmi for a film that he will be producing. The film will be directed by Renzil D’Silva and will star Kareena Kapoor too. The actress had some date problems which have been finally sorted. Emraan Hashmi is has become the talk of the town after the success of Jannat 2. He surely is one bankable actor everyone is watching out for.
• Anil Kapoor will be working with Sanjay Gupta once again in the latter’s film, Shootout At Wadala.. He had earlier starred in Sanjay’s film Musafir. Apparently the actor had said no when the director had offered him a film earlier. Anil says that he is happy that he signed this film. He goes on to say that the entire cast and crew of the film are working very hard and it is paying off.
• Raj Babbar will be seen playing Soha Ali Khan’s father in her forthcoming film. The actor has played Kareena’s father in Bodyguard in his last film. Though Timangshu Dhulia had not decided to cast him a chance meeting with Babbar made him take the decision. Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 2 is being shot in Devgarh Baria in Gujarat.
• Deepika Padukone became the brand ambassador of Parachute Advansed recently. The actress will feature in the advertisements of their World’s Best Hair campaign. Deepika used to to feature in Parachute Advansed advertisements back in 2007. The actress says that she is happy to be back in the Parachute Advansed family. Apparently Deepika’s elegance and confidence makes her the perfect brand ambassador for the hair product.

Shah Rukh Khan now on way to buy Dempo

Mumbai: Shah Rukh Khan is on high heels of pleasures these days after the bigger success of Kolkata Knight Riders’s win over Chennai Super Kings in IPL Season Five final match. He has been doing celebrations since the day of victory. The man is boisterous since it is the first time that his team did superb in IPL. For the first time, the team reached to the top level of the tournament and then reached in the final. Well, he deserves all the celebrations. The winning has given the superstar more confidence now to invest into games. Now he seems to be interested in getting fifty percent stake in Dempo, one of India’s top notch football clubs.

The close sources from the club reveal that the actor has been holding talks with the owner of the Goa based I-League champion club. The meetings between Shah Rukh Khan and club’s owner Srinivas Dempo will bring in lucrative results, the sources are pretty sure.

Post the KKR’s win, Khan again held meeting with the owner and the club’s management. But still there is no conformation at all about whether the deal will happen or not since Shah Rukh is interested in 50% stake. Sources also add that there are certain things needed to be worked out prior to finalizing the deal between the two. Reports have it that the club definitely needs Shah Rukh Khan on ownership board due to his popularity as a big star of India. The club is of the view that his popularity would be beneficial in promoting the I-League champions who have been dominating the Indian football scene. Three times Dempo have won the I-League since its beginning in 2007-08.

Well, if the deal happens, it would be interesting to watch the football with Shah Rukh supporting the team.

Sonam Kapoor Speaks

Known for her energetic and loving personality, this girl got it all…gorgeous looks, immense talent and a good heart. In her scenes, her enactment of the characters, you always get the hint of those transient moments that have an indelible impact on us!
She started earning at the age of 18 and hence financed all her desires on her own. From being a waiter to walking the ramp with elegance, she has done it all. The IT girl of Bollywood at present tells us how she made her foray into Bollywood in spite of being a star kid. You might like speaking and talking to her but when we spoke to her, our liking changed into love almost immediately. And we bet the same for you as well.

Fashion, glamour, glitz, hard work, ability and expressions: A Concoction of which of the following flavours do you see in a potential actress?

Well, number one is definitely going to be hard work! Frankly speaking, it has taken a lot of hard work for me, at least, to be here in a lot of ways. I started at 90 kilograms and it has taken a lot of hard work for me to reach wherever I am today. I have auditioned for all the roles that I have portrayed on screen. In fact, I had multiple auditions for ‘Sawaariya’ and similarly for ‘Delhi 6’ to get the roles. So, that in its self is a very difficult process. I have auditioned for every film except ‘I hate Luv Storys’. The hours that we actually put in to make the film ready for the audience is in itself a proof of the hard work that we put into it. Fashion, I think is very important, in terms of how you carry yourself and how you express yourself. I feel Fashion is a sense of expression because you are expressing yourself to your clothes! Being expressive in terms of who you are and showing your individuality by creating a personality is very relevant, especially if you become iconic! When you are someone who people look upto, you need to have your own personality. You cannot be like everybody else. Then it is expression: you need to be very expressive and talented to be a part of this industry. It does not matter whose daughter you are or how beautiful you are, it is the measure of how much talent you have and how much hard working you are that is going to matter eventually!

Very few people know that though you are a star kid, you did not have an easy way into the industry. Share some moments from life how it used to be then!

I was an assistant director for Sanjay (Leela Bhansali) in the beginning when he told me that he was making a film called ‘Saawariiya’ and he would like me to act in the movie! But for acting in it, I need to audition for the movie. That’s what he told me. All these girls had auditioned for the same role. There was Shivani Kapoor who used to be a model, Shraddha Kapoor (Shakti Kapoor’s daughter) auditioned for it. A lot of girls auditioned for it and I was one of them! Eventually, he selected me to play Sakina in his film. It is a process, you have to struggle a lot, you have to act, you have to get and click some good pictures! Fortunately, I take very good pictures. So that has always helped me in my auditions. I have always been auditioned for my photograph. There used to be people who would check my photographs and would ask me to come for the auditions. When I did ‘Delhi-6’, he probably auditioned all the girls in the entire industry. But I had just one meeting with him and he decided to take me in the film. So you have to struggle, you have to find out what films people are making and get rejected very often. You go to big banners like ‘Yashraj’ and ‘Dharma’ for work. They take your audition and either they like you or they don’t like you, without even caring who your father is or who your mother is! Film making is a business and they put money in you. You need to be successful and talented to shoulder that responsibility. I think it matters who your dad is because people treat you differently but it doesn’t matter when it comes to getting work under any banner!

You were launched with Sanjay Bhansali’s ‘Saawariya’ which might not have worked well at the box office but it did earn you instant recognition. How was your feeling then and now when you look back at it?

What happens with my films is that the public starts identifying so much with the characters that I play which assures that I have done my job convincing. It acts like a compliment for me. I put through who I actually am! After ‘Saawariya’ people thought I must have been the soft, shy, Indian girl and after Delhi-6 they felt I was very spunky and very pretty, again very Indian! With I Hate Luv Storys, I was the clichéd romanticheroine and after ‘Aisha’ I was the spoilt rich brat! With each and every film, people start identifying with me and my character. I like the fact that even if the audience doesn’t remember my films, they do remember Sakina, Bittu, Aisha or Simran. And hopefully, after Players, they will also remember Naina!

‘Saawariya’ opened so many crossroads for you. Films followed, you garnered applauses and you got labeled as a fashionista. But does Sonam still crave for a solo hit?

Well, I think I have got them with ‘I Hate Luv Storys’ and ‘Aisha’. Aisha was completely like my own film and it did have a 15 crore weekend at the box office! For a solo female film, that is quite a high number! It was also a first of its kind. After that, ‘No One killed Jessica’ and ‘The Dirty Picture’ came! It’s just got better from there. But then, it was just a mode of telling what the future of the industry is going to be. So for me, these two movies were really turning points in terms of business. Also, none of my films have opened small ever! In fact every film of mine has always opened big. Unfortunately, a lot of my big films have not lived up to my expectations but I have never ever been critically panned by anybody when my performance is concerned. For me, that is the most important thing. At least people like the way I act. Whichever of my films does do well, it is just like a cherry on the top!

Even then when a list of industry’s top actresses is made, somehow people miss out on you. Did you ever get bogged down by this?

I must admit that I do think that I am among the top 5 actresses. When people think about which actress to cast and there are 5 choices, I am definitely one of them. So I do not agree with you on that. I have always worked with the biggest film makers. I will continue working with the biggest filmmakers next year as well. So I have never ever felt that honestly. If I worked with a Sanjay Bhansali, Rakesh Mehra, Karan Johar, now with Abbas-Mustan, then Rajkumar Santoshi and Mani Ratnam, I fell privileged to be having this opportunity. When I came out, I sort of put myself in a bracket because of the choices I made. I never did anything that was not of quality.

With ‘Players’ we got to see a newer avatar of the lovely Sonam we knew. You have ventured into the action arena with this film. How was the entire experience?

I was expecting the film to do well and it did not live upto my expectations. It was a complete masala film, a very commercial movie and it is a lot of fun! You don’t need to go there thinking I am going to watch this deep dark film which will take me on a jouney! It will definitely take you on a journey but that would be a roller coaster ride. It is a fun, fun film! You just go there and get entertained!

You are now working with Rakesh Mehra again for ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’. You call him your most favourite director. Are you excited to work with him?

Yes I’m very excited to work with Rakesh Mehra again. He is one of my favourite directors and I worked with him in my 2nd film, which has been one of my closest films.

You are one of the most straight forward and frank celebrity in the industry. You have always called “a spade a spade”. Do you think your unabashed staright-forwardedness is what makes some people take you negatively?

I don’t thrive on any kind of negativity. I think people appreciate me because I’m straight forward and don’t find me diplomatic or fake!

 Dad Anil Kapoor has put his steps forward for Hollywood. With Hollywood brand endorsements already in your kitty, are you also planning to do a Hollywood movie given a chance?

Yes why not? If the script is good and it’s a character driven role, I would be more than happy to jump at the offer! (Smiles)

When can we see you and your dad together on screen?

Hopefully soon, considering we have already done a TV commercial together and it was really appreciated. We would definitely be seen together in sometime from now, I wish!

Today’s successful Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra, who charges higher sums for a film and endorsement fee, has always been romantically linked up with many of her co-stars. Well, putting a glance at her life, it comes up that Chopra has been quite romantic by heart and it seems she loves enjoying her link ups and above all she loves having affairs.

Her first prominent love affair began with the actor Akshay Kumar with whom she has done few movies as his leading lady. This affair went on well but soon vanished away with the arrival of Twinkle Khanna in his life.

Priyanka Chopra’s latest love is none other than the King of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan who she once called her best friend and he too called her his best friend. Don’t know from when both have been in love with each other but their love game got revealed few months back. From now onwards, both have been quite in news and on headlines. Their love story has been the central focus of the tabloids. Their love came into notice after the release of the film ‘Don 2’ in which she played the leading role opposite Shah Rukh Khan (even in the prequel to this flick ‘Don’, she had played the leading lady of King Khan).

Soon after the romantic linkup of the two came into public and in news, Gauri Khan (wife of Shah Rukh Khan) has turned much strict towards both – her husband and Priyanka, which was why at the success party of Don 2, Priyanka was not invited. Even at the events where both are invited Shah Rukh is not allowed to get any close to the babe (due to the strict rules placed by Guari).

At the recent Karan Johar’s 40^th birthday party where the entire Bollywood industry was present, initially Priyanka was not invited (since Gauri did not want her over) but at the eleventh hour she was invited by Johar (thanks to Farhan Akhtar’s efforts) and she then came to attend. But she had to follow the strict rules of Gauri Khan. Gauri placed the condition that she (Priyanka) and Shah Rukh will socialize as normally guests do at parties and they will maintain a certain distance (as per reports). Additionally, Gauri has also strictly ordered to Shah Rukh Khan not to do any films with her in future (as per reports).

Well, from her love affairs, it certainly seems that Priyanka Chopra really loves getting draped with link-ups.  What do you say?

Kim Kardashian eventually apologizes to Indians

Los Angeles: The voluptuously stunning and a real sex bomb…yes this term fits aptly to her, Kim Kardashian has now apologized Indians after she termed Indian food ‘disgusting’. The reports have it that Kim told her family members that she thought Indian food was disgusting. But now she insists that there was no intention at all to offend the Indians.

Kardashian, 31, the famed socialite, reality star and model of international fame of the US, landed under bigger fire after she talked nasty about the Indian food with her sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner in their show ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ in Sunday’s episode. After she learnt that the Indians worldwide did not like it at all and she had landed under mammoth fire, Kim had to come to her official website to make the things clear. She wrote that she did not want to offend anyone of the people of Indian origin by saying that Indian food was disgusting.

Kim went on adding that there was no intention at all to insult the Indians or their culture. Kardashian then said that there were few of Armenian foods which she found disgusting but this did not show that she did not like the people or culture of Armenia.

After the episode went on air, Kim was bombastic with heavy criticism on Twitter by the Indians.

There were also reports that the socialite was scheduled to visit India but still there is no itinerary revealed yet. Hollywood celebs now show much intention in visiting India and even many have shown their interest in working in Bollywood movies. Kim Kardashian is a renowned name in the world of Hollywood entertainment. This babe is hugely popular in the entire world. She and her siblings have launched many products on their names as well. Kim is the central focus of the paparazzi wherever she goes in the world.

Over-Confident Sonam calls Katrina “shameless” and herself “trendsetter” !

Sonam Fashionista Kapoor, as always has made it to the news again with her big-mouthed and insulting comments. The fresh target this time is, Chikni Chameli Katrina Kaif, whom Sonam just tagged as “shameless”.

Now at Cannes, Sonam made her loud and open statement to film journalist Anupama Chopra, and stated that “I would like to give Katrina a bouquet of flowers.” On being asked why so, she reverted: “I don’t know how she does that. You need a certain kind of commitment and a certain kind of shamelessness to do certain things. You get that may be with stardom or with confidence in your talent or with who you are as a person. I need to develop that before I do films like that.”

She also affirmatively articulated about herself being a trendsetter. She declared “I was just being myself, people caught on and now it has become a trend. All the actresses have started hiring stylists. It’s always nice to be a trend-setter.” Also she remarked “I’ve been here(Cannes) for five years, and I’ve done 6 films. When it comes to movies, there is so many of us we can talk about. But when it comes to fashion, there is only me, at the risk of sounding immodest.”

Sonam and her vociferous and obnoxious comments have always been airing around. This time around she charged Katrina Kaif. But Sonam Darling needs see her record and Katrina’s record, who has been all favorite and has been delivering hits one after the other. And as far as Sonam is concerned, we need not discuss that.Right! She might be good at fashion, but certainly its high-time Sonam resisted her temptation of remarking and insulting people with her blustering comments.

No stopping for Arjun Kapoor !!

Debuted with Ishaqzaade successfully, Arjun Kapoor is all set to set the floor moving and audiences entertained with his next array of movies. His rugged looks, headstrong attitude and dedication to work, all are kicking at the same time.He is bagging films after films and there is no stopping him.

After playing “Parma” in Ishaqzaade, he is all geared up to experiment with his roles. Be it playing double role or a rebel younger brother, both of Arjun’s hands are taken at the present moment.

This newbie has already started working for his next project with the YRF Films   once again,  donning a double role. The movie is titled “Aurangzeb” directed by Atul Sabharwal.Double role translates to doubled expectations, and young actors don’t easily risk themselves with double role, but Arjun keeps the Dabbang attitude of the real life role model, Salman Khan and acts fearless in taking up such challenging roles.Instead he is animated and delighted to accept the challenge of enacting and delivering two different performances in the same film.

Up his sleeve, is another movie from the Rajshri Productions Camp, titled “Bade Bhaiya”.And guess who plays the role of “Bade Bhaiya”?. He is none other than Salman Dabbang Khan, who is playing the part of elder brother in Sooraj Barjatya’s next venture. Salman had always played the role pf younger brother in prior Rajshri films, but the tables have certainly turned and now its time for him to play the elder one. Arjun is playing the younger one who is a rebel, and Salman would be under his guardianship, the one bringing him on his track of being a matured and calm person.

Sooraj Barjatya was blown away after seeing Arjun’s performance in Ishaqzaade, and found the young character he was looking for as per the script requirement was none else but Arjun.

Arjun has always strutted around claiming Salman to be his mentor in his real life, whose advice in losing extra kilos from his plumpy body helped him in achieving the macho looks he flaunts now.

Official announcements for “Aurangzeb” are yet to be made and would go on the floors in the last quarter of the year, whereas “Bade Bhaiya” would be releasing around EID next year.

Kapoor son is flooded with offers and is surely going to take the legacy forward. All want to see more of Arjun in the coming future in more avatars, but girls especially, would  be charmed as always by his mannish looks.

Nargis Fakhri kisses Ness Wadia…love seems to be blossoming

Mumbai: Nargis Fakhri is just one movie old and she is in the news and stays on headlines likes she is an established Bollywood actress. Thanks to her love connections with various stars which have made her land on the headlines. First she dated Ranbir Kapoor during the shootings of the flick ‘Rockstar’ and even during the filming, she was made enjoy the tour of the city by beau Ranbir and his friend Ayan Mukherjee who is currently directing Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone in ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’.

Post the break with Ranbir Kapoor, Fakhri was linked with Shahid Kapoor who took her especially to Goa on his birthday bash and the couple enjoyed the romantic holidays at the exotic and sandy beaches.  Now the latest addition to her life is none other than the ex-flame of the dimpled beauty Preity Zinta, Ness Wadia. Yes, that’s true and you have heard it correct. Both Nargis and Ness were at the lavish birthday bash of Karan Johar at a five star hotel in Mumbai on May 25^th.

Ness was enjoying with his endless amount of drinks (as per the sources out there) ignoring his ex-girlfriend Preity Zinta completely. Nargis Fakhri stepped into the bash, Ness stepped ahead and greeted her. Kisses exchanged from both ends. Nargis Fakhri stayed there for brief time and during this time, both Ness and she were together having conversation and enjoying each other’s presence.

By the time, Nargis left the bash Ness dropped her to her car outside the hotel.

Fakhri’s spokeswoman denies the reports and she says that Nargis even does not know about Ness Wadia. She goes on saying that the two just said ‘hello’ to each other. But what is about the kisses and the conversation they both had. And what about Ness’ droping her to her car outside the hotel? Hmmmm! Ness is surely seeking a new babe to date these days post the break up with Preity Zinta and Nargis is not bad rather a gorgeous gal.
