Manam Koththi Paravai Tamil film hits the screens. The flick is a pure entertainer but this entertainer has any oomph values and entertaining masala for the audiences? For this, read on the review. There is another question arises in the mind whether the leading hero Siva Karthikeyan has the potential to carry the movie on his shoulders. Well, it does not seem so since the guy is not potentially strapping to lift the flick. Ezhil directs this venture that features Siva Karthikeyan, Athmiya,. Parotta Suri, Singam Puli, Ilavarasu, Ravi Mariya and Srinath, Chaams among others.

Ezhil has previously directed the flicks like Poovellam Un Vasam, Thullatha Manamum Thullum and Deepavali. He has come up after some hiatus and this time around, he emerges with this entertainer Manam Koththi Paravai. The enterprise is the fusion of romance and comedy. The director and the writer have tried to make it a thorough entertainer by using the required spices to allure the cinegoers.

The flick talks about the friends whose one stupid act makes them land into big trouble of their life. Will they be able to get out of it is what forms the rest of the film. D Imman has scored the music for the flick.

Kannan (Siva Karthikeyan) happens to be a simple village guy who falls in love with his neighbor Revathy (Athmiya). She is the daughter of the family who terrorizes the entire village and their fists do the things for them. The father of Kannan (Ilavarasu) is a building contractor. Kannan’s friends want to see the lovers united. But her wedding gets fixed with an affluent and influential guy from the neighboring village. Now Kannan’s friends have very limited time to do the things as per their plan. Help is taken by two of Kannan’s friends from Mumbai (Sreenath and Chams). They abduct Revathy. From here the big trouble starts off.

Plot is not unique or novel at all, we have grown seeing these kinds of movies. Screenplay is good and attracts but carries some loopholes as well. Execution by Ezhil is attention grabbing and you would love to give distinction marks. Music by D Imman is ordinary. Cinematography is appealing.

Siva Karthikeyan delivers the goods well but he is not potentially powerful to carry the movie on his shoulders as a solo lead which is why the director adds other characters of his pals in the movie. Athmiya is good to watch. Siva’s friends enact their parts well. Rest of the cast fills the bill also.

Final Verdict:

On the whole, Manam Koththi Paravai is a time pass entertainer.

Rowdy Rathore expected to hit Theaters on the 1st of June 2012

Rowdy Rathore, which marks the return of Akshay Kumar in the action field, is a remake of the Telugu movie Vikramarkudu. The film went on the floors on 10^th august 2011. The movie has been promoted in a unique manner, wherein posters of lead actors were painted by street painters. The street painters took 4 hours to carve these posters out, while Akshay and Sonakshi were made to stand and pose for the posters. All the 4 posters designed by the painters, have been released as the film’s first look posters. Prabhudeva has directed this action caper after his previous action blockbuster Wanted.

Sources have credited Sanjay Leela Bhansali with this idea, as the renowned director intends to bring back the creative idea of poster painting back to bollywood. The posters have generated a huge response from the audience for its innovative approach already.

The poster also shows Akshay sporting a moustache. Akshay has sported a moustache look for films such as Sabse Bada Khiladi, Sangharsh and Chandni Chowk to China.

The plot of the movie revolves around a thief played by Akshay Kumar, who gets wrongly judged by a girl as her father. The thief then gets to know that he resembles the girl’s father, IPS officer Rathore who has been killed. The rest of the story is based on how the thief extracts revenge on those responsible for IPS officer Rathore’s death. Akshay Kumar is seen a double role in the movie.

The film was in the news recently, when it was reported that Akshay Kumar was almost wounded by a bullet while shooting. The amount of gunpowder used in the bullets was slightly higher than the normal level and it apparently could have rsulted in a very serious injury for Akshay. Akshay managed to escape with no harm done incidently, but the action director Mahindre Verma apologized to Akshay profoundly for the incident.

Rowdy Rathore is expected to hit the theatres on 15^th June 2012. The film has already gained a lot of publicity thanks to a lot of advertisement in the media and on social networking sites. Lets hope that this return to action genre proves to be a successful one for Akshay Kumar.

After directing films that deal with serious issues like, ‘My Name is Khan’, ‘Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna’ etc, Karan Johar is finally returning to the kind of films that he does best. His fans and Bollywood lovers will all agree that no one could make another ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ like Karan did. So, to the sheer delight of all his fans, this famous director is returning with a film that is of the same genre as his above mentioned one.

The film will be the debut of three new faces in Bollywood. They are: Alia Bhatt, who is he daughter of the well-known filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, Siddharth Malhotra who is a newcomer and Varun Dhawan, who is the son of the reputed David Dhawan.  Both the boys in the cast of the film already have experience in working with Karan as they were both assistant directors in his film ‘My Name is Khan’, starring Shah Rukh Khan.

Coming to the story of this much hyped film, it is based on the lives of three college students. Karan Johar assures that it will be a film filled with laughter and joy and excitement. Not only will this film be the kind that today’s youth will easily identify with, but it will also have the spirit and enthusiasm of an outing or a holiday.

KJo says that, stepping away from the kind of serious films that he has been making recently, this film is will be one that is  ‘happy go lucky’ in every sense. There will be a lot of song and dance sequences too. Noting the fact that Vishal-Shekhar will be giving the music for this film, the audience will be expecting nothing but the best from them.

The film has a whole range of surprises lined up with respect to the cast as well. Even though this is Karan’s first film where the “Badshah’ of Bollywood would not be playing the male lead, it does not mean that we won’t see him in the film at all. Recent news has it that Shah Rukh Khan will be seen in a small role or cameo in this film. Moreover, Rishi Kapoor will also be playing a rather unconventional role of a gay man in the film. When asked about it, the versatile actor, who has recently outdone himself in a negative character in ‘Agneepath’, stated that he cannot say no to Karan. Looks like Rishi Kapoor is finally getting those unconventional and challenging roles that he wanted.

After all this, there really shouldn’t be any doubt about how excited KJo is about this new venture of his. His recent tweets prove that the director is enjoying every moment of the making of this project that is so close to his heart. On top of that, since it is Karan Johar that we are talking about, the audience can fully expect that director to go to any heights to bring them only the best. So, till the date of release is finally announced, it will be a period of eager wait and anticipation for Karan’s fans and the whole of Bollywood. Let us hope that the film lives up to the hype that it has generated.

“Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana” is a Hindi film, and is director Sameer Sharma’s debut project. Sameer is basically a television actor and has done many roles in different television programmes. This is his first stint behind the camera.

The film is directed by Anurag Kashyap, who has films like ‘Dev D’, ‘Black Friday’, ‘Udaan’, ‘Gulaal’, ‘Water’ and ‘Satya’ to his credit. The story has been written by Sameer Sharma and Sumit Batheja.

The movie stars Kunal Kapoor, who was seen in films like ‘Rang De Basanti’, ‘Aaja Nachle’, and ‘Don 2’. Huma Qureshi is the female lead, and has done many TV commercials before.

“Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana” is billed as India’s first film that will be based on food, and is slated to release on the 18^th of May, 2012.

Raattinam – Movie review

The debutante filmmaker S Thangasamy churns out the Tamil movie Raattinam and the film was much in talks prior to the release. The expectations were super high and the moviegoers were waiting for some quality stuff on screen. The hype was on heights. The promotional activities were done in abundance. In a capsule, the film was already staying with the audiences well before the release. The debutante director has potential and he showed his class with brilliance. He delivered the goods aptly on screen and the audiences loved watching the film.

The film has romance as its core and it is set in Tuticorin district. The film features the newcomers in the field – Lagubaran and Swathy as the main protagonists. The film is a romance saga that involves school students.

The film is the production of Rajarathinam Films and under this banner it has been released. The film starts and then proceeds with the leisurely pace till the finale. It finishes off a enthralling note. The script is good though not novel but has interest quotient intact. The execution of the plot on screen is splendid and marvelous. The viewers do not get bored even for a moment and that is the beauty of the movie.

The fact remains that love has potential and it can make or break the things. It is actually a feeling that drags the people towards each others. The story opens up in Tuticorin where Jayam (Lagubaran), who is a youngster and spends his time with his pals. One fine day, he bumps into Dhanam (Swathy) who happens to be the final year student at school. The romance happens between the two. The girl’s father works in Tuticorin Port. Jayam’s brother possesses good political contacts.

By the time both the families come to know about their love, there happens brawls and clashes in the families. The two flee from the homes and then situations then turn murkier. The climax is utterly interesting.

The story in interesting and carries weight. Script is attention-grabbing. The direction by the debutante S Thangasamy allures the hearts. He is a good storyteller. Cinematography is fine. Editing seems okay. Music is well composed.

Lagubaran attracts with his acting skills. Swathy is a good actress. Both can see their scope in the industry. Rest of the cast enacts well too.

Final Verdict:

On the whole, Raattinam is a good movie that is interesting and you can enjoy watching it.
